Primary Purpose

Promotes and ensures the quality and safety of nursing services provided to clients and families. Provides educational leadership to public health nurses and paraprofessionals by setting care standards, creating competencies, audits, and education that meet and exceed quality benchmarks via the use of research and evidence-based practice therefore increasing quality of care and practice.

 

Essential Functions

Provide hands on education and training and/or organize educational opportunities for clinical staff on new and existing procedures, skills, and equipment which includes  emergency events at offsite locations.

Determines staff development educational needs by assessing healthcare service requirements, such as, new policy developments, new technologies, patient case studies, and quality assurance indicators and make recommendations for change.

•

Improves educational results quality by establishing educational standards and procedures (i.e. clinical competency and audits); measuring results against plans and standards; evaluating research methods; making required changes to course materials; studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes.

Coordinate and execute clinical staff orientation, including but not limited to the administration and instruction of BLS/CPR, PALS

•

Serves and protects the healthcare community by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 


Additional Responsibilities

•

Collaborate with other stakeholders (i.e. school health, outreach services, and immunization outreach coordinator) on clinical education needs.

•

Other clinical duties as assigned.


*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.
