Primary Purpose

The Community Engagement Coordinator leads our efforts to facilitate innovative community partnerships and promote equitable community engagement. This position will engage in in-depth, interactive and collaborative communication with the community and community partners, in addition to providing residents with information on housing services. This position will play an important "bridging" role necessary to close the cultural, relational, racial, language and socio-economic divides that often exist between public and private institutions and low-income communities and communities of color to help develop consistent relationships in the community, connect residents to resources, and surface key community concerns.

Attend community events (in-person and online) as the Wake HACR Department representative.

Outreach to agencies, organizations, partners and stakeholders to coordinate presentations, both in-person and utilizing online platforms. Managing and coordinating invitations and scheduling.

Excellent collaboration and relationship building skills that establish partnerships and effective teamwork within the Housing Affordability and Community Revitalization Department.

Increase visibility and understanding of the system-wide work done by Wake County to foster consistent messaging and support the mission that homelessness is brief, rare and non-recurring.

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Qualifications


Required Education

•

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Graphic Design, Marketing or a related field.


Required Experience

Two years of experience working in communications or marketing.


Required Licenses and Certifications

Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record

Equivalent education and experience are accepted
