Primary Purpose

Supervises, guides, and supports Case Aides in the provision of supportive services Child Welfare consumers, social workers, and supervisors.  Develops, initiates, establishes and communicates scheduling and operational standards. Ensures that staff have the necessary tools (training, staffing and supervision meetings, coaching sessions) to do their jobs effectively.

Provide supervision of the the emergency shelter care and supervision of staff that are providing supervision for youth in the custody of Wake County Human Services by providing supervision and structure including implementation of a behavior management system, modeling positive interactions and appropriate behavior, facilitating appointments for health, mental health and other needs, participating in team meetings to assess needs, progress and make recommendations.

Provide consultation regarding residential needs, placement and clinical issues. Complete special projects and other activities as needed.  Supervisor will assess individual training needs and jointly develop with the worker a developmental plan that is monitored throughout the year.  Will ensure that staff receives all mandated trainings.  Provide leadership and direction for the program implementing appropriate rules and following guidelines. Supervisor will ensure staff receive are kept abreast of all changes through use of technology and regularly scheduled meetings/supervision.  Supervisors will review and sign off on all documentation within timeframes per policy, protocol, etc. Manage onsight personnel files. Conduct individual supervision and joint supervision to all staff monthly. Provide performance feedback and development for staff.

Ensure on-call coverage of the program 24 hours a day and seven days a week to ensure safety and rapid response to all emergency situations. Work weekends and other hours as needed to provide for consistent communication and supervision of staff.

Maintaining a healthy environment that meets the social, physical and well being needs of the youth. Ensure compliance with all requirements that provides a safe and nurturing environment for residents and addresses their needs. Provide guidance and resources to the program that support  its continued success and refinement to meet the needs of the agency.  Oversee the development of weekly meal and activity planning for youth.

Documentation & Record Keeping: Complete various forms for residents i.e. daily logs, behavior checklists, admission records, maintaining individual files, complete documentation for the program i.e. staff changeover forms, security logs, incident reports, vehicle and house maintenance logs.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.
