Primary Purpose

Performs the duties of a Pharmacist in addition to implementing pharmacy objectives as determined by the Pharmacy Director. Oversees areas of pharmacy services, programs, and personnel. Ensures safe, timely, efficient, compliant, and productive workflows in oversight's operational and service areas.

Processes and verifies prescriptions, counsels patients, collects payment for services, processes third party payor prescriptions, provides drug information to nursing staff and clinicians.  Oversees pharmacy staff, workflow and day to day operations.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Qualifications


Required Education

Graduation from an accredited school of Pharmacy

Three years of pharmacist experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

•

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills

•

Knowledge of pharmacy state laws and federal regulations

•

Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment options, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.

•

Basic skills in using and documenting in an electronic medical record, word, powerpoint and excel

•

Strong communication and interpersonal skills required in providing education to patients/families and patient care team members as well as in interactions with students, the public, pharmaceutical representatives, and representatives from external institutions (i.e., colleges of pharmacy, health care institutions).

•

Aptitude for detail and medication safety skills.

•

Ability to maintain good rapport and cooperative relationships

•

Ability to identify problems, offer solutions, and participates in their resolution.

•

Problem Solving: Determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
