Primary Purpose

Serves as liaison and project manager to Raleigh-Wake Emergency Communications Center (RWECC), Holly Springs Police 9-1-1 and Wake County Sheriff's Office. Leads all technology related deliverables for  Communication centers for the ongoing operational and technical matters related to the 9-1-1 technology systems (CAD, Locution, RMS data feeds, Deccan, ESN routing, etc.). Analyzes and documents Wake County public safety agency user issues and coordinates resolution. Consults with and advises Wake County public safety agencies on the utilization of 9-1-1 technology systems functionality to improve business processing. Oversees all project execution to ensure projects are on-budget and on-time.

Provides project management for Information Services and business unit initiatives for 9-1-1 technology systems and specialized public safety systems.

Maintains all project deliverables including project scope and objectives, scheduling, risk management, change management, issue management and status reporting.

Manages project scope by assessing requirements changes, determining and conveying impact on budget and schedule.

Anticipates operational and tactical risks and track them. Remove barriers, resolve minor project issues and escalate to sponsors where required.

Provides leadership to the project's participants and stakeholders, including managing expectations, conducting meetings, maintaining timelines, communicating needs, and providing clear information.

Manages procurement, including contract negotiation, expense monitoring, and vendor adherence to timelines.

Follows Wake County IT standards, policies and procedures. Enhance personal proficiency and knowledge of county information systems and technology. Stay current with IT industry trends and explore ways to effectively apply new technologies to the work of Wake County government.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Qualifications


Required Education

•

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related field


Required Experience

•

Five years of experience in IT project management
