Primary Purpose

The position is responsible for overseeing, monitoring, improving and ensuring all aspects of Wake County's Morgue Operations are compliant with industry standards, laws and regulations.  The position will coordinate and collaborate with the State's Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) ensuring decedents are successfully and respectfully processed from receipt to final disposition.  The Manager will provide guidance and recommendations on future operations and direction of the operation and program.

Ensures systematic and effective communication with State officials, service agencies (funeral homes) and families in the intake, transfer, return and final release of decedents occurring within, or residents of, Wake County.

Constructs and develops complex recommendations and strategies regarding the future scope and size of operations incorporating a comprehensive set of data including growth, rate of service demand, stakeholder service needs, and related factors impacting decedent recovery, handling, processing, and discharge.

Create, develop and supervise a Team to conduct operations pertinent to current operations and business processes.

•

Oversee, manage and audit contract agencies providing operational and planning support to the program.

•

Create and maintain operational policies, protocols and procedures applicable to current and future scope of morgue operations.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Qualifications


Required Education

•

Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Logistics or related field


Required Experience

•

Three years’ experience in an interpersonal skills position such as sales, customer service or related industry including one year supervising operational personnel

Equivalent education and experience are accepted
