Primary Purpose

Coordinate activities required to maintain ISO 17025 accreditation standards. Participate as lead in internal quality audits. Participate in internal risk assessments and quality related investigations. Administer proficiency testing program. Maintain Quality System documentation and accreditation records for external accreditation assessments. Coordinate agency security and safety activities.

 

Essential Functions

•

Coordinates accreditation activities including internal audits and proficiency testing. Facilitates the distribution of proficiency tests and maintains proficiency test records. Participates in conducting and documenting internal audits.

Maintains quality system documents in electronic policy and compliance software. Ensures quality records are organized, current, and meet the requirements of ISO 17025.

Creates, updates, and provides agency-wide training to employees and instructional presentations to employees.

•

Participates in the investigation of potential nonconformities and assists in the implementation of corrective actions and associated follow-up monitoring.

Ensures laboratory safety inspections are current and complete. Monitor security access to operational areas.

Position(s) may perform other duties in addition to the above as assigned by management.

 

*IMPORTANT* In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Qualifications


Required Education

•

Bachelor’s degree in Physical, Natural or Forensic Science, or related field


Required Experience

•

One year experience as a forensic analyst in one of the following fields or other related forensic experience: chemistry, DNA, latent prints, firearms, information technology, or crime scene examination

•

Operational Knowledge of ISO 17025 Standards through one year of related experience and participation in forensic quality audits


Qualification Equivalency

•

Equivalent education and experience are accepted
